Discover the trade fair city of Nuremberg anew

When Insights-X closes its doors in the evening, the gates of Nuremberg open, inviting you to explore the beautiful city. And if you think you already know the city, there are lots of surprises in store for you.

Nuremberg is waiting to be discovered

With their legendary esprit, the craftsmen of Nuremberg have always been very ingenious in using the know-how of their times to improve products, tools and technologies and develop novel inventions. This is why the city has evolved to become a major trading centre. The original lively spirit has reawakened with new energy. Whether art, the Web, business, technology or innovations - new networks are being established everywhere to exchange state-of-the-art know-how, combine ideas and create new things. Such links can seldom be visited in inside spaces. But at Insights-X, several opportunities present themselves. For example, the 3rd Art Weekend and "JOSEPHS - Die Service-Manufaktur.

Experience art

Anyone who produces creative materials is closely involved with art. In Nuremberg, the art world ranges from the Living Workshop in Albrecht Dürer's House through to the creative workshops "Auf AEG“. On the former site of the AEG company, near Fürther Strasse, a lively art, music and creative scene is currently growing with a wealth of design and service companies as well as research projects. Their art is being exhibited alongside Insights-X. The 3rd Art Weekend in Nuremberg shows just how much can be produced with creative materials. From 5 to 7 October, the most important institutions for contemporary art, as well as galleries from Nuremberg and the surrounding area, will be exhibiting works by established artists as well as aspiring young talents. A good opportunity to stroll around Nuremberg's art hotspots.

Participants in the Art Weekend

Tip: "UNN – United Nations Nuremberg", a photo installation of the UN headquarters by Bettina Pousttchi, is a real highlight. A large walk-in and palpable pavilion in front of the New Museum on Klarissenplatz reflects the link between the international organisation and Nuremberg with its historical significance as the site of the Nuremberg Trials and now a centre of human rights. (U1/U2/U3 station: Central Station - Hauptbahnhof).

Feel the spirit of innovation

The future is being built in Nuremberg. The Museum of the Future, a branch of "Deutsches Museum", is currently under construction close to the Hauptmarkt with completion scheduled for 2020. Another innovation workshop, JOSEPHS – Die Service-Manufaktur, has already been in operation since 2014. This innovation centre, which belongs to Fraunhofer IIS and is supported by Friedrich- Alexander University Erlangen-Nuremberg, lives and breathes pure innovation. Not highbrow, over and above people's heads, but palpable with a hands on approach. JOSEPHS® brings inventors and ideas to the people in the heart of the city. This crowd feedback gives developers valuable information that helps them to make their ideas marketable in line with the needs of the customer. As a dealer or manufacturer of stationery products, it's worth having a look at this test laboratory for future product and service ideas. Maybe one of your ideas could be perfected there before it is launched on the market.

Tip: JOSEPHS Servicemanufaktur invites you to discover the future world of products and services. Monday to Friday from 10 am to 7 pm, Saturday from10 am to 6 pm Entrance: Corner of Karl-Grillenberger-Str. 3/Hintere Ledergasse 44, 90402 Nuremberg. (U 1 Stop: Weisser Turm)

Nurture traditions
If it's your first visit to Nuremberg, you must do some sightseeing in the old city, of course. Either walk around on your own or take a guided tour. And beyond the city limits, there are other cities close by that are also worth visiting. Erlangen or Fürth, and all the other neighbouring towns are rich in history. The "Michaelis-Kirchweih" festival in Fürth gives guests to Insights-X an opportunity to experience tradition close-up. This biggest street festival in Bavaria is over 900 years old and derives its charm from its unique combination of marketplace and fairground. Take the U1 from the exhibition grounds directly to the festival venue in Fürth city centre starting in Gustav-Schickedanz-Strasse and continuing along Königstrasse. U1 stop Fürth Central Station (Hauptbahnhof) or Town Hall (Fürth Rathaus).
